Interstitial 131: Coral Bark

This Japanese Maple is beautiful year-round as it changes color each season. I’m not sure if the new leaves are hiding the moss and lichen that was all over the branches in winter, or if it falls off as the leaves grow and push it away.

The bright red branches deliciously contrast with the deep green conifers in the background, as well as the moss and lichen that seems to be taking over. I chose a closeup because I couldn’t get the wider shot I had in my head. The kit lens can only do so much!
