Mt. Hood looked fabulous on the drive home, but had begun to darken by the time I reached this viewpoint. What a great excuse to play in Photoshop! This photo was leveled, grayscaled, and filtered. For some reason, I’m drawn to this grainy look.

Interstitial 88: Third Place

Portland has the third most depressing winter in the U.S.; Anchorage, Alaska, is first and Seattle, Washington, is second. Source: The Cities With the Most (and Least) Depressing Winters

Anyone living here wouldn’t disagree the winters are dark. While many of us find a quiet beauty in the gloom, the sun is never taken for granted and we certainly rejoice when it warmly smiles on us.
